Imagine what it was like in 1915, when steam ships brought thousands to Cook Inlet and the muddy banks of Ship Creek. It was the beginning of Anchorage, Alaska.
Back in 2011, I chose the Oscar Anderson House to be the subject for my annual Holiday card, and the recipient of the profit it garnered. It was becoming a struggle to keep the doors open for tours of this incredible bit of history. The cards were a sellout, and one of the women who ran the tours even bought the original watercolor. The real plus was that I got an up close and personal tour of this little gem!
