One of the first places I remember when we first moved to Alaska in 1968 was the White Spot when it was located at 412 C Street. I can still remember those great hamburgers and fries!
My favorite restaurant was JD’s BBQ. I remember sitting my nephew (who was only a few months old) on the table in his carrier and dipping his pacifier in the beet juice. He is over 50 years old now! Best BBQ in Alaska. I returned to Alaska this last summer and the first place I wanted to go was there…but to my dismay it is no longer in business. Was quite saddened.
Circa 1966 I was working at Nerlands and ate lunch often at the White Spot! I too had a chat with Govenor Egan! I guess he liked to chat at dinners!
Dennis - Interesting that you met Governor Egan at the White Spot. Did he have a cheeseburger or ?
I remember working on the Trans Alaskan pipeline as a pipefitter in 1977 in Valdez and there was a nice restaurant there a nice halibut casserole
Fredric - did you ever make it to Anchorage during your stay in Alaska?

Michael - The White Spot holds many great memories. Folks in Anchorage say it had the best burgers.
